Materials
Aluminum
Aluminum, widely used in aerospace, medical, and automotive industries, is favored for its high strength-to-weight ratio, versatility, and lightness. It's perfect for weight-sensitive, durable, and heat-efficient components like engine blocks and heat exchangers.
Attributes: machinability, surface finish, strength, fatigue resistance, corrosion resistance, weldability, ductility
Variants: 2011, 2024, 5052, 6061, 6063, 7075
Brass
Brass, a dynamic copper alloy, enhances copper's strengths, offering superior mechanical strength, reduced friction, and exceptional corrosion and wear resistance. Ideal for CNC machining, brass is favored for durable, corrosion-resistant mechanical components like gears, lock parts, and pipe fittings, thanks to its excellent machinability and versatility.
Attributes: ductility, corrosion resistance, machinability
Variants: Brass C260, Brass C360
Bronze
Bronze is a durable material known for its wear and corrosion resistance, making it ideal for components like bearings and valve parts that require strength and resilience.
Attributes: strength, corrosion resistance, machinability, wear resistance
Variants: 642, 932
Copper
Copper is essential in various industries for its excellent conductivity and corrosion resistance. Grades 101 and 110 are preferred for energy transport applications due to their strength and ease of use, making them suitable for electrical components like bus bars and wire connectors.
Attributes: corrosion resistance, conductivity, cost effective, machinability
Variants: 101, 110
Nickel Alloy
Nickel alloys, also known as high-performance alloys, contain some nickel in their elemental makeup to improve some of their properties and make them better suited for applications outside their typical wheelhouse.
Attributes: corrosion resistance, heat resistance, strength
Variants: Inconel, Monel
Stainless Steel
Stainless steel is highly durable and resistant to heat and corrosion, making it ideal for industries like construction and aerospace. Its versatility spans applications from heat exchangers to medical tools, with chromium content enhancing corrosion resistance. Different alloy grades improve its properties, with heat treatment crucial for optimizing mechanical characteristics.
Attributes: strength, corrosion resistance, toughness, ductility, machinability, surface finish, machinability, wear resistance, weldability
Variants: 13-8, 15-5, 17-4, 303, 304, 316, 416, 440
Steel
Steel is a cost-effective material used in industries like aerospace and automotive due to its strength and durability, though it requires protective treatments to prevent oxidation.
Attributes: strength, ductility, weldability, machinability, fatigue resistance, wear resistance, toughness
Variants: 1018, 1045, 1215, 4140, 4142, 4340, 8620
Titanium
Titanium is valued in aerospace, medical, and marine industries for its lightweight, strength, and corrosion resistance. It is ideal for high strength-to-weight and temperature resilience applications, though it is more expensive to machine than aluminum.
Attributes: corrosion resistance, strength, heat resistance, surface finish, fatigue resistance, weldability, ductility
